Senior Electrical Estimator - Mississauga, Ontario
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Estimator based in Mississauga, ON. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing detailed and accurate electrical cost estimates for a variety of construction projects, including design-build, conceptual, and competitive bid work. Your expertise will directly support project planning, execution, and overall business success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive electrical estimates for projects of varying size and complexity.
- Interpret and analyze electrical drawings, specifications, and project documents to determine material, labour, and equipment needs.
- Calculate cost factors to support project planning, scheduling, and vendor selection.
- Prepare and issue RFQs to suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on scope and budget.
- Utilize estimating software such as Accubid to perform detailed take-offs and pricing.
- Continuously review and refine estimating practices to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve accuracy.
- Assist in determining indirect costs, overheads, and risk factors.
- Mentor and support junior estimators, providing guidance on best practices and technical knowledge.
- Contribute to company goals through additional tasks and cross-functional collaboration.
Qualifications:
- 3 to 25+ years of experience in electrical estimating, preferably in sectors such as automotive, data centres, or heavy industrial.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, schematics, and construction documentation.
- Familiarity with Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), trade scopes, and bid submission protocols.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and experienced with Accubid or similar estimating software.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
