About Us OTI Lumionics is developing advanced materials—by design—using quantum simulations, machine learning and real-world testing in pilot production. We are currently focused on key enabling materials for OLED displays that will be used in next-generation consumer electronics and automotive. Our advanced electrode materials, and associated manufacturing technology, are being used to build transparent displays and lighting. We work closely with our partners and customers to design new materials that are mass-production ready. Using our computational Materials Discovery Platform, we are able to rapidly iterate new materials, allowing fast turn around time to meet our customers’ needs.
Workplace Type On-Site
Primary Responsibilities OTI Lumionics is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Chemical Operator to support critical materials quality, inspection, and compliance functions within our operations. This role is central to ensuring that all incoming and outgoing materials, particularly hazardous chemical supplies, meet strict quality, safety, and documentation standards before entering or leaving production. The ideal candidate is quality-driven, methodical, and comfortable working with regulated materials in a controlled environment. The role combines hands-on material handling with a strong emphasis on verification, inspection, traceability, and safe chemical management. This position operates with minimal supervision and in strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental requirements.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Execute material receiving, inspection, and release processes to ensure accuracy, traceability, and compliance with internal quality standards.
  • Perform quality verification activities, including sampling of hazardous chemicals and confirmation of documentation, labeling, and specifications.
  • Ensure all materials are properly identified, cataloged, and documented within inventory and quality systems.
  • Identify, investigate, and communicate discrepancies related to material condition, quantity, or documentation, working closely with production, laboratory, and logistics teams to resolve issues.
  • Safely manage, handle, and store highly hazardous chemicals in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Work comfortably in full-body PPE, including respirators, lab coats, and hearing protection, for extended periods as required by safety protocols.
  • Support controlled material movement such as loading, unloading, staging, and internal transport with an emphasis on damage prevention, contamination control, and procedural compliance.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, and other equipment as required, in accordance with training and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate, high-integrity records through precise data entry and verification checks.
  • Contribute to a safety-first and quality-focused culture by identifying hazards, reporting issues promptly, and supporting continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all activities minimize environmental impact and comply with company environmental and regulatory policies.
  • Support additional operational or quality-related duties as assigned to ensure overall facility effectiveness.
Willingness to work extended hours or varied shifts, including weekends and holidays, as operational needs require.
Profile
  • Diploma in chemistry or related science degree (preference for candidates with previous relevant chemical or pharmaceutical industry experience).

Required Skills
  • Frequent lifting and maneuvering of products up to 30 kg (occasionally over).
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a warehouse environment.
  • Must be willing to wear all required PPE (hard hat, safety eyewear, steel-toed boots, respirator, etc.).
  • Able to operate or learn to operate a forklift
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and relevant data processing programmes
  • Knowledge and understanding of GMP/GLP or ISO standards is an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Fast learner, flexible, have a strong initiative and can-do spirit
  • Extended hours may be required from time to time
  • Ability to work all shifts (e.g. morning and evening shifts, weekend shifts, and holiday shifts)

We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans.
